Some time has passed since I’ve provided an update on the grow, so I wanted to let you know about the latest happenings on West Wealthy. Unfortunately, we experienced a few setbacks that cost us some time. But the good news is we bounced back and are currently rounding third base, headed for home!
You know a bit about weed, right? Yet, someone will drop some cannabis terms now and then, and you’re not sure what they mean. With widespread cannabis legalization, there are many new products in stores. You may know what a joint or bowl is, but in the presence of stoners, certain terminology may elude you. You may have heard the analogy that being in the cannabis industry is like being on a rollercoaster. I’m here to certify that analogy is indeed true! One day you feel on top of the world with a new opportunity or achievement in front of you, the next day you find yourself miles away from that euphoria, surrounded by seemingly insurmountable barriers.
By law, in Michigan, we’re each allowed to have up to 10 ounces of cannabis in our house at any given time. And if you’re lucky enough to have 10 ounces of flower, you need to make sure it’s stored to maintain maximum potency and freshness.
The summer has been flying by at Pharmhouse Wellness, and we’ve been busy next door, too, continuing construction on the grow facility. Every grow I’ve had before this was a DIY experiment. You’ll be glad to know this is different—so much planning and thought have gone into this project.

You’ve stumbled upon the first entry in my GRow journal. I decided to write this as a documentary of sorts about the journey I’ve been on in the cannabis industry. So, can cannabis provisioning centers benefit your community?
Yes! Here’s how: like anything else in life, cannabis is taxed. The better a provisioning center does, the more tax revenue the state and local community will see. Medical cannabis is taxed at Michigan’s standard 6%, while recreational cannabis is taxed an extra 10% on top of the standard 6% tax rate. This money goes to improving schools, roads, and other various things that benefit from tax dollars.
